The Zoo

Last Monday me and the kids went to the zoo. Here are some pics. . .

The kids wanted to take their own pictures. They started by trying to take a picture of this peacock who was trying to eat bugs in the grass. . .

Then along came some turkeys who also wanted breakfast. . .

A fight insued. After snapping this pic we decided to move on. . .

We saw the albino crocodile (on the bottom of his pool) and the tiger. . .

We went on the train ride. . .

We visited the elephants and zebras at feeding time. . .

The new baby girraffe. . .
. . . and here is a video of the baby chipanzee Acara. She kept stretching out her arms towards people wanting them to come play with her. It's too bad she doesn't have someone else her age to play with. Her dad was in the cage with her but he was rolled up sleeping and wouldn't come play!

Sad News

Spring break has finally started so tomorrow I hope I will be able to post a bunch of stuff. Last week was pretty crappy for us. It started out with the news that the 1st dog Yogi got pregnant had a hard delivery. Even though the vet was called in they lost both the only puppy and the mother. :( (That was her 1st litter.) There is one more pregnant dog (her 2nd litter) so we are hoping for better news on that delivery. It should be another 3-4 weeks. Then at the end of the week I got my official "we are sorry, but your pre-reqs are too old" letter. (The U has an accelerated program for people who already have their bachelor degrees but I don't know anyone who got in that finished school more that 2 years ago.) This makes this semester all that more frustrating because I only needed these 2 classes for the U and now that I am starting COMPLETELY over I won't be going to the U. Yes, I am going to go get my high school transcripts and pretend like I never went to college because it will work out better in the long run. Because the program at SLCC is an associate program I don't need one single class I have taken over the past year!!! So I figure I will just start all over on an equal playing field with the other 400,000 freshman that are trying to get in. Anyway, here's hoping for a much better week for spring break. We went to the zoo today (I'll post that tomorrow) and here's a picture of Yogi who got groomed today.

Posting

I know I need to post more often. I am just so strapped for time! I applied for 2 nursing schools but with the time constraints on prereqs I will probably not get in. This means one more year of redoing the prereqs I took so long ago, and then I can reapply! Anyway, spring break is coming and I will try to post some new stuff. For now enjoy these pics of my dad wrestling with the grandkids. I am not sure who is winning.

Demotivators

The journey of a thousand miles sometimes ends very, very badly.

I added a link to this company that makes demotivational posters, calendar, clothing, even not so happy valentine candy hearts. I think most of them are pretty funny. We bought a calendar this year. My March demotivator is: INSPIRATION Genius is 1 percent inspiration and 99 percent perspiration, which is why engineers sometimes smell really bad.

Snow Day

It was my kids first official snow day. Here are some pics. (Yogi is not exactly a snow lover!)

Megan turned 6!

Megan had a wonderful princess birthday filled with friends and fun. She got so many toys! We got her a disney princess bike, Grandma Clayton got her a portable cd player (which had dead batteries the next day, she won't take it off!), and from her friends she got the latest barbie, a disney princess horse, baby disney princesses, an Angelina Ballerina dvd, markers, and a whole lot more.

Butterfly museum

We went to Denver to visit Grandma & Grandpa Clayton for Thanksgiving. The kids always enjoy going to the butterfly museum there.

They have a room you can walk through and see butterflies up close. Usually they tell you not to touch them, but the lady doing the presentation put that large butterfly onto Abby's hand.

This is a bird eating tarantula. ICK! Some of the kids wanted to hold the tarantula. I don't think Abby will ever do it. But then again neither will I. Haylee wanted to watch everyone else do it. Carter was fasinated by the spiders and bugs in their cages but when it came to holding it he wanted to but I think Mindi was the one actually holding the spider.

All they want for Christmas is their two front teeth!

Megan and Haylee are both missing their two bottom teeth!

Christmas

Well, I haven't posted in almost 3 months so I will have to do some catching up. I'll start with the pictures from Christmas.

Christmas jammies

Christmas presents
Abby's big present was a guitar. She has really taken as interest in music and is excited to learn any instrument. Jordan's big gift was the big roller coaster from KNex. It was well worth the $50! It is one of the coolest toys I have ever seen. However, I took a nap while Ben put it together. It took 5 hours. Still cool though. Meg got a lot of little things, mostly disney stuff. She got a disney princess trace and draw and a disney princess oven. It "cooks" with ice instead of a light bulb. Yes, no batteries, no power, ice. I was surprised that it actually "cooked" the cake that came with it. Tomorrow we are going to try a real cake mix and see if it still works.
Sad Puppy!
We didn't get anything for Yogi. He was sad and pouted all day. He even had to spend time in his crate because he was so jealous that the kids were getting so much attention that he kept biting them! I guess I better put him on my list next year.
Merry Christmas! I hope everyone had a good holiday!

Back to School

I wanted to post some pictures of the first day of school. (Jordan went to school with stitches in his hand after losing a fight with a soup can. Which by the way had to be put in by the doctor who told me Megan wasn't sick when she was 2. It was fun.) Also Meg lost her first tooth this week. And of course here's the baby.
