I HAVE to do gingerbread houses EVERY year. It is a no-miss, can't be Christmas without it tradition. Fortunately the kids LOVE doing them.

Jordan's tooth
Jordan had been complaining of some jaw pain. I didn't take them to the dentist last July like I was supposed to. So after I finished all my finals I made everyone an appt and in to the dentist we went. Jordan had an abcess and had to have his tooth pulled.

I don't know how well this picture really shows it but he had a HUGE cavity on the back surface of his tooth. He's the one who always brags about being the best toothbrusher in the house. Guess we're just going to have to learn to brush a little better huh??
Christmas Cookies!
The kids had fun making cut out sugar cookies. Here again I had to step back and let them do their own thing. I usually dictate where the cookie cutter goes, which cookie cutter we use, how the cookie is frosted. But I am really making an effort to step back and just let them do it. They had so much fun. Poor little Yogi of course felt so neglected and got so excited when, after we finished our sugar cookies, we made dog cookies just for him.

Steph and Uzi
My cousin Stephanie's friend Uzi is having this contest and I did a quick photoshop of the pick with a pretty background to match these two beautiful girls.
Pinewood Derby 2009
We didn't have as much success this year as we did last year but Ben was more insistent that Jordan do it on his own and I didn't have time to step in! The car was a little under-weight so he didn't really have a fighting chance. It was still fun though. The boy who won had his grandpa build the car for him. It's sad that this yearly event is so competitive because it really should be the boys working all on their own!
Setting up Christmas
I was in no mood to decorate this year. I was so sick of school and work!!! So we did the bare minimum. No lights on the house, just the tree and a few other things.
Halloween
So, I am finally sitting down to catch up my blog. I think I left off at Halloween. HALLOWEEN in January. So here we go.
The kids had a great time carving pumpkins. As with most things around here we did it in out pajamas! And for the first time ever I sat back and let them do their very own thing. I usually MAKE them do it my way but this year they just had at it and they all did a great job!
On halloween Megan went as a pretty witch, Abby a 50's girl and Jordan, well, I he first said he wanted to be Indiana Jones and then when I tried to get the stuff together we was not very excited about it. So I figured he could just dig through the costume box if he didn't really care. Then the day of halloween he REALLY wanted to be Indiana Jones so he went as an Indiana Jones/cowboy. But he had fun so thats all that matters right?

Poor neglected blog
Wow it has been a long time since I have made time for my blog!! I haven't even posted halloween pics yet! This hasn't been a horrible semester but I think I am just burnt out! Taking next semester off is going to be heaven!! Well, I have finals through Wednesday and then I promise to inidate this blog with the posts of the past two months followed by our Christmas celebrations. For now though I wanted to post a pic of Ben and Sheryl's new baby Ryanne. She was born on Thurs Dec 3 and this pic was taken Sun the 6th so she is just 3 days old here. She is a cute little thing but she apparently inherited her dad's expressions . . . raised eyebrow ALREADY!!!
